Skeptics and Noah’s Ark

You’ve got to love Psych! From S04E04 – The Devil is in the Details…And the Upstairs Bedroom (Opening scene)

PRIEST: “Thanks for coming in Henry.”
HENRY: “Oh, ofcourse father, ofcourse…”
PRIEST: “I just wanted to discuss Shaun’s attitude in Sunday school lately. It seems I can’t get through a lecture without him questioning every detail. Take this morning’s for instance – on Noah’s Ark…”
SHAUN: “I’m sorry dad, but it just doesn’t make sense!”
PRIEST: “What doesn’t make sense, Shaun?”
SHAUN: Sigh. “Lots of things. Like if the Ark was built in the Middle East, how did animals like the koala bear get to it?”
GUS: “God helped them get there using his own mighty power”
PRIEST: “That’s exactly right Gus.”
SHAUN: “Then why didn’t he use those powers to create the Ark? Wouldn’t that be much faster than getting Noah to build it?”
PRIEST: “No Shaun, because…God prefers his creations to accomplish things on their own…”
SHAUN: “Unless those creations happen to be koala bears, right?”
HENRY: “Shaun, I think you’re getting a little too hung up on the details…”
SHAUN: “Really? You always told me the details are everything in life.”
HENRY: “You’re missing the point, son.”
SHAUN: “How’d they keep all the lions from eating all the zebras? Don’t you think that the 7 lions would have at least gone through 7 zebras by then?”
HENRY: “They could have easily eaten 7 zebras by then…lions eat close to 5000 pounds of meat a year…”
PRIEST: “Yeah…”
HENRY: “Why don’t we break this down? What have we got here…we got Noah, we got a boat load full of animals…what would be his M.O?”
PRIEST: “No, this is not a detective case, Henry, this is…Have you two ever considered visiting the Methodist Church down the street…It’s quite nice…”
